چکیده

Two-phase equilibrium data was measured for carbon dioxide with triacylglycerols from crude palm oil using a phase equilibrium loading re-circulating high-pressure type apparatus at various pressures and at temperatures of 80, 100 and 120°C. According to this research, it concluded that the highest extraction in term of vapor phase was carried out at a middle pressure (P=5.4 MPa) and at temperature of 120°C. It also calculated that the extracted triacylglycerols (TAGs) percentage were about 2.27%. This gives a good opportunity to have these materials extracted using supercritical CO method in order to scale up the system. 2

Mutual Solubility Study in Supercritical Fluid Extraction of Tocopherols from Crude Palm Oil Using CO2 Solvent

In this article, the mutual solubility of tocopherols from crude palm oil was studied using carbon dioxide as a solvent at the temperatures of 80, 100 and 120 °C. Each sample from the phase equilibrium unit contained two parts. The liquid part was analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) in order to measure the tocopherol composition and, on the other hand, the vapor phase was conducted in an expans...

Supercritical Fluid Extraction of β-Carotene from Crude Palm Oil Using CO2 in a Bubbler Extractor: Mass Transfer Study

In this study, the diffusivity and volumetric mass transfer coefficients for the extraction of β-carotene from crude palm oil using CO2 solvent in supercritical fluid were determined in the pressure range of 7.5-17.5 MPa and temperature range of 80-120 ºC. For this purpose, a statistical method was applied in order to minimize the number of experiments required. The volumetric ma...

Modeling of Pressure Dependence of Interfacial Tension Behaviors of Supercritical CO2 + Crude Oil Systems Using a Basic Parachor Expression

Parachor based expressions (basic and mechanistic) are often used to model the experimentally observed pressure dependence of interfacial tension (IFT) behaviors of complex supercritical carbon dioxide (sc-CO2) and crude oil mixtures at elevated temperatures. However, such modeling requires various input data (e.g. compositions and densities of the equilibrium liquid and vapor phases, and molec...

SPE 129728 Swelling/Extraction Test of a Small Sample Size for Phase Behavior Study

Swelling/extraction tests are single-contact phase-behavior experiments to measure the solubility of CO2 dissolved in crude oil and the amount of hydrocarbon that CO2 can extract or vaporize from crude oil. The tests are commonly conducted in a visual PVT cell with a large sample size (40-100cc). In this paper, an easy operated apparatus capable of determining phase behavior with a significantl...

Measurement of the Rheology of Crude Oil in Equilibrium with CO2 at Reservoir Conditions

A rheometer system to measure the rheology of crude oil in equilibrium with carbon dioxide (CO2) at high temperatures and pressures is described. The system comprises a high-pressure rheometer which is connected to a circulation loop. The rheometer has a rotational flow-through measurement cell with two alternative geometries: coaxial cylinder and double gap. The circulation loop contains a mix...
